Taking breaks
Back in 6th grade I believed that the best way to get through a project was to do all the work as soon as possible, and then relax for the rest of the project. This strategy worked through elementary school, but because of the greater work load in middle school the plan started falling apart. In my SLC I was told I had to take breaks in my work, so I tried. Below is my old plan for doing 6 aleks topics in one week:
M: 0 topics| T: 6 topics| W: 0 topics| TH: 0 topics| F: 0 topics|
And this is my new plan for doing 6 aleks topics in a week:
M: 1 topics| T: 1 topics| W: 2 topics| TH: 1 topics| F: 1 topics|
Because in 8th grade you get even more work than in7th, being able to take brakes can be imperative to an 8th grader. However, I'm no perfect yet; Next year I will try to Become responsible enough to do work on weekend

Setting short term goals
I already made short term goals in 6th grade, but I feel like I've gotten much better at it in the past year; I think this is mostly due to the first study skill, which has made short term goals much easier to make. I ask you to turn your attention to the above statistics. During the first semester My only goal for aleks was to get it done, which is a pretty general and long term goal. Now, however, my goal for aleks is to do one problem every day of the week, and two problems on one day. This gives me five very specific short term goals. Because of the heavy workload in 8th grade, being able to set short term goals can be very helpful.
Making check lists
During my SLC, I was told that to improve my self esteem I should make check lists. That way when I check something off, I feel like I am getting closer to my goal. To the left is a picture of the checklist I used to make this TPOL (I haven't finished as of writing this). There is a lot of work to do in 8th grade, and making check lists can be a great way to keep track of it all.
